- 34th Annual Japanese Speech Contest- Sunday, November 4, 2007 (Application deadline is Friday, October 12, 2007)
- The Japanese American Association of Northern California (Hokka Nichi Bei Kai) and the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, as a part of their activities to encourage the learning and use of the Japanese language, are co-sponsoring the 34th Annual Japanese Speech Contest. The Speech Contest will include middle and high school students in the morning and college students and adults in the afternoon. The contest is scheduled for Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the Japan Information Center of the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco. We appreciate your encouraging qualified students to enter this contest. The application must be received at the Japan Information Center (50 Fremont Street, Suite 2200, San Francisco, CA 94105) by 5:00 pm on Friday, October 12, 2007.
- The Speech Contest for College Students and Adults
Applicants must be (1) U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States,(2) current college student or adult over 18 years of age and (3) not have lived in Japan for more than 2 consecutive years after the age of 6. The top five winners will receive cash prize and the top three winners will also receive trophies. In addition, there will be a drawing for one round-trip ticket to Japan for contestants courtesy of Japan Airlines. Previous first prize winners are not eligible for entry.
