Midterm Exam Review

The midterm for Critical Thinking will be in WebCT from Thursday, March 27 from 3:00 until Thursday, April 3 until 10:00. 

 

The midterm exam is worth 10% of your overall grade. 

 

There will only be one attempt, not 3, so prepare and answer carefully.  And you will only have 1 hour to do the test. 

 

The midterm will cover all of the material we have addressed so far in the course.  That corresponds to chapters 1-7 in the book.  Be prepared to answers questions on:

 

validity

cogency

ill formed arguments

deductive strength

inductive strength

arguments

premises

conditionals

universal generalizations

counter examples

modus tollens

modus ponens

belief

truth

charity

implicit premises

conclusions

defeat

argument analysis

 

and other central concepts that have been the subject of discussion this semester.
