    After reading the message, write two paragraphs in which you do the following:

     

    1. Explain how the authors tried to communicate nonverbally in their written message.
      For example, how do the authors convey what might otherwise be conveyed through vocalics or gestures? Be specific and give examples from the website message.

       

    2. Explain how the meaning of the message might be interpreted differently if it were read aloud in different tones of voice.

       

    2. Go to the following website: http://members.aol.com/bearpage/smileys.htm After reading the site, write a paragraph in which you take a position on the following question: "Are the nonverbal 'smiley' codes very helpful, somewhat helpful, or not helpful in conveying nonverbally what we normally convey with our bodies, voices and faces?" Justify your answer.
