RPTA 196B :: California Wine Tourism
Introduction to the wine tourism industry in California, with an emphasis on marketing wineries (including diversity in wine marketing), wineries as event stages (tableaux), marketing related agri-tourism products, wine destination “pull” factors, and winery retail. The course will also examine wine mythology, culture and ritual, the role of the sommelier, wine region geography, wine science, destination sustainability, and wine tourism impacts (social, moral, economic, agricultural and infrastructural). Includes field trips that do not involve wine tasting.
1 Unit :: Mo 1:00PM - 1:50PM :: Solano Hall 2004
(Please note that this is not a three unit course and because of that, it will not replace another RPTA elective. Many of the course topics will be addressed as part of class field trips.)
Because of the field-trip nature of this course, the enrollment limit of 20 students will not be exceeded. Field trips for this class are generally on Fridays.
