Technology Requirements

Students will need an electronic mail account and computer access to the Web. All CSUS students enrolled in one or more units can create a SacLink account for electronic mail and Internet services. Although a home computer with a high speed modem running Netscape or Internet Explorer would be beneficial, students can use the Web from one of the campus student labs.

Basic Requirements

Students must enjoy speaking and meeting others. This is a Conversation Course. The class will meet once a week in the Foreign Language Teaching Lab MRP 2000, for pronunciation practice, conversing, and vocabulary exercises.

Computing Recommendations

Pentium PC running Windows XP, Windows NT, or Macintosh compatible with System 7.1 or higher

128M RAM memory or more, 200Mhz or faster speed processor

Hi-speed Internet connection (dial modem is not recommended)

Firefox 1.0.5, Internet Explorer 6.0, or NetScape 7.0

Campus SacLink account (required for WebCT access)

Word processing skills

Printer, printer cartridge, and a ream of paper

Online class participation on the Web assignments and electronic discussions

Computer Skills

Comfortable using the computer and browsing the Web

Familiarity with SacLink

Word processing skills & Windows environment skills

Individual participation on the Web assignments

Participation in electronic discussions, using WebCT
