Dr. Gail Tom » Biography

Gail Tom is professor of marketing at the College of Business Administration, California State University, Sacramento and teaches courses in Consumer Behavior and Marketing Research. She is an adjunct faculty at the University of California, Davis, and has taught courses in Retailing and Consumer Science. She serves as a reviewer for academic journals and for textbooks in the area of consumer behavior and marketing research for a number of publishers. Dr. Tom conducts training workshops for both the public and private sectors.

Gail Tom is active in research and has over 50 publications in academic journals in the areas of marketing, advertising, retailing, psychology and education. In addition, she has published two textbooks in the area of consumer behavior.

Dr. Tom’s consulting experience includes satisfaction studies, focus group studies, ethnographic research, survey research, statistical consulting, and scale validation for clients in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

Gail Tom is the recipient of the American Marketing Association Fellowship, Direct Marketing Association Fellowship, J.C. Penney Professorship, Advertising Educational Foundation Professorship, Duke University Research Grant, Outstanding Teaching Award, and University Distinguished Service Award.

Gail Tom received her bachelor degree in psychology, master degree in consumer science, and her doctorate in consumer behavior from the University of California, Davis. In addition, she holds a master degree in administration from the University of California, Riverside and a master degree in psychology from California State University, Sacramento.

She is married and the mother of two children.
