International Education WeekOne World's Interactive ‘splash wall’ exploring ‘Inheritance’ The One World Initiative and International Programs and Global Engagement invite the campus community to the Global Lounge (Library 1001) to participate in an interactive “splash wall” exploring the theme “Global Perspectives on Inheritance.” Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to post and view responses to prompts such as “What does inheritance mean to you?” and “What is your inheritance?” The splash wall will be available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 14-18 during Open Lounge time and during International Education Week events. Did you know that you can apply for a new passport right on Sac State’s campus? Well, you can at The Passport Place located in the International Programs and Global Engagement (IPGE) office! To help kick off the opening of The Passport Place, IPGE is holding two passport information sessions during International Education Week. You can learn about the steps necessary to apply for a new passport, the services The Passport Place offers, and tips for safe travel. World Travel Adventure

“Mark your calendar for an extraordinary presentation to kick-off International Education Week! Steve Freeman, globetrotting author of the book ‘World Travel Adventures,’ will chronicle his “edu-taining” travels to over 100 countries spanning all 7 continents on November 14th starting at 6:00 p.m. in the IPGE Global Lounge, Library 1001. Steve will show us vivid photos from his personal collection as he describes selected places near and far, including his interactions with locals, knowledge gained, and advice to fellow travelers. This book has been described a “must-read” for any traveler or adventurer, and quite engaging from cover to cover. ‘World Travel Adventures’ is available at any Barnes and Noble bookstore nationwide on a prepaid basis (paperback or hardcover), other fine bookstores as well, and online including all the major sites such as amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and Google Books. Steve will answer questions at the end of his presentation, and also do a signing as requested.

The Gilman Scholarship Program is an undergraduate grant, for U.S. citizens who qualify for the Pell Grant, to enable students to study abroad. The Gilman Scholarship can award up to $10,000 to be used for study abroad expenses. This information session is given by a Sac State student who received the Gilman Scholarship to live and study in Germany last year. Sacramento State's award-winning Omicron Chapter of Phi Beta Delta is hosting a catered reception for all international scholars on campus. Each year, scholars from around the globe come to Sac State to conduct research. The presence of these research scholars enhances the international dimensions of education at Sac State and allows our faculty the opportunity to work with colleagues from different countries.
