Dr. Hofmann is Sacramento State’s Senior International Officer (SIO) and has administrative oversight of International Programs and Global Engagement (IPGE). Dr. Hofmann was formerly the Assistant Vice President for International Affairs at Fresno State and the Director of the Center for International Programs at Bowling Green State University. He holds a BA in Political Science from Adrian College, MA in International Relations from the University of Toledo, MA in Higher Education from San Jose State University and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Bowling Green State University.
Janis has been involved in study abroad advising in the IPGE office for many years. She is one of the Benjamin A. Gilman scholarship advisors for Sac State students. She enjoys working with students and advising them on the benefits of an educational experience abroad; the learning, growth, and fun it entails. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at California State University, Long Beach and quickly after grew her love for traveling and learning from other cultures while in her position as an airline flight attendant. She later lived and studied in Spain for a summer. She considers the best part of her job to be the time she spends advising and meeting with students.
Michelle is a study abroad advisor in IPGE, and a Fulbright Programs Advisor for Sac State. She began traveling internationally when she was 14-years old and has been to several countries in Europe, Asia, South America and North America. Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from CSU, Chico, during which time she studied abroad in Thailand. She started working in the IPGE office as a graduate student assistant while completing her Master of Science in Counseling at Sacramento State.
Megan began working in IPGE as a Student Assistant after returning home from a semester abroad at Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada. After graduating from Sacramento State with a Bachelor’s of Arts in French, Megan returned to the office. Her experience abroad has furthered her passion for international education and learning new languages. Megan hopes to earn a Master’s degree at Sacramento State in the future.
Lori grew up in and around Sacramento. She has seen the city and university change and grow over the years. She has been with Sacramento State for over 15 years and has a passion for working with students. Outside of the office Lori loves paper crafting and spending time as a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter.
Alex began working in international education in 2009. After graduating with a BA in History from University of California, Santa Cruz, Alex went on to become Senior Program Coordinator for the English Language Institute (ELI) at Sacramento State. A native of Sacramento, Alex enjoys welcoming new students and showing them everything the city and campus have to offer. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration.
Stephanie has over a decade of experience in the field of international education and has previous experience working with international students in the UC and CSU systems. She earned her undergraduate degrees in Economics and International Development Studies from UCLA, focusing on economic development in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, and also earned a Master of Science in Counseling from Fresno State, where she researched the relationship between socialization and academic achievement among international female students. Working with international students has been one of the most rewarding professional experiences of Stephanie's career.
Caroline began working in the international field over 20 years ago as an intern in Santiago, Chile. After graduating from the University of California, Davis with a BA in International Relations, she worked for a global company based in San Francisco. In 2008, she began working as an International Student Advisor at the English Language Institute (ELI) at Sacramento State. In 2011 she joined the International Admissions office. Caroline has traveled and lived abroad from an early age. She has worked and studied in South America and Europe. She is fluent in Spanish.
Erika holds a BA in International Relations from the University of California, Davis and a MA in Higher Education Leadership from California State University, Sacramento. She moved to California from Manta, Ecuador and is fluent in Spanish. Part of her undergraduate education was completed in Italy and she has traveled to many countries in Europe and Latin America. Erika is interested in international education, leadership, student outreach, and foreign languages; and she loves theater and soccer.
