Study Abroad Peer Advisors

Study Abroad offers walk-in advising with student peer advisors. All of our peer advisors have been through the application and pre-departure processes, and lived and studied on many of the same programs available to all Sac State students.

Peer advisors are available for walk-in appointments during their office times listed below. Peer advising is not available when classes are not in session.

How to become a Study Abroad Peer Advisor

Once you have returned from your Sac State affiliated study abroad program, please contact a study abroad advisor to request a Study Abroad Peer Advisor application.

Meet the Peer Advisors Spring 2017

Peer Advsor Ariel

Ariel Zavala, Liberal Studies

Education Abroad Program: CSU IP Learn Spanish in Spain; Jaén, Spain (CSU IP)

Ariel is a senior and wants to become a 1st or 3rd-grade teacher. She has always enjoyed working with children and wants to make a difference in their lives. Last year, she studied abroad in Spain and learned about the history, culture, and language. She knew very little Spanish when she arrived and she found it very difficult to communicate, but after a few short months, she was able to have conversations with the locals. Study Abroad was a life changing experience that Ariel will never forget.

Ariel is available Tuesdays, 9 am to 10 am

Peer Advisor Carly

Carly Quellman, Communications with an emphasis in Journalism

Education Abroad Program: University of Technology, Sydney; Sydney, Australia (Direct Exchange)

Carly is senior at Sacramento State, majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism. She is also a member of the Sac State Dance Team. Carly decided to study abroad because she wanted to experience another culture community and feel the newness of college once again. Her time abroad allowed her to find her best friends, gain a better understanding of the world, and simply learn what the rest of the world has to offer. In the coming years, she plans to travel the Mediterranean and South America, and possibly pursue her Master’s degree at Boston University. Carly’s motto to live by is, “If you keep moving, you’re going to get somewhere.”

Carly is available Mondays, 12 to 12:50 pm
