IRT has implemented a 4-year technology refresh cycle for instructional spaces. The goal of this cycle is to sustain service levels by maintaining, repairing, and replacing broken and outdated technolgy. Often this results in improvements, such as HD projectors and digital connections. However, there are not significant changes to the types of technology and facilities resources unless the refresh is paired with a major renovation or new construction project.
There are 200 campus-wide classrooms, meaning IRT targets 50 rooms per year for technology refresh in order to achieve a four-year cycle. The cycle applies to both Basic Smart and Advanced Smart rooms. Because the technology refresh cycle was not previously well established, IRT is currently making concerted effort to "catch-up."
