Sacramento State has been selected as the first CSU campus to receive a major upgrade of its campus network. This upgrade will ensure that our network infrastructure continues to keep pace with both technology and the changing needs of CSU students, faculty and staff.
The upgrade will take place in June, with rolling network outages affecting most campus buildings for a one-day period. The schedule for these outages and other information regarding the upgrade can be found on the upgrade project page: www.csus.edu/NetworkUpgrade. If your building is not on the list, then your building will not affected by the project. Upgrade work will be on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., during which times building occupants will experience both total and intermittent network and wireless outages.
In buildings equipped with Voice over IP Phones (VoIP), the phones will be subject to outages during the one-day upgrade period as well. Alternate workspaces will be provided for those affected and laptop computers will be available for loan during the outages. Those laptops (or department laptops) may be used wirelessly in unaffected spaces such as the library or the AIRC. The computer labs in AIRC 3013 and 3008 will also be available as alternate work space locations.
There will be more communication to the campus prior to the June upgrade, including signs posted on each building with the specific dates and times of each building outage. Visit the Network Upgrade website for up to date information. Any questions or concerns may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
