Infrastructure Technology Readiness Program - Network Upgrade
In Summer 2011, Sacramento State will be replacing the current campus network infrastructure. ITRP is an ongoing effort to maintain campus baseline network infrastructure as technology advances and user needs evolve. The program provides for the refresh of each campus network infrastructure on a cyclical basis to ensure that the network infrastructure continues to keep pace with technology and meet the changing needs of CSU students, faculty and staff.
When will the change take place?
The Network Upgrade will start May 25, 2011, and go through June 29, 2011. Download a PDF version of the full Upgrade Schedule or view a Building Status Schedule for when each building will be affected.
What is the impact of the upgrade on the campus?
Network upgrade work will be performed weekdays between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm, during which times building occupants will experience both total and intermittent network and wireless outages. In buildings that are equipped with Voice over IP Phones (VoIP), the phones will be subject to outages during the one day upgrade period as well.
For a list of phones that will be out of service due to the network upgrade, visit the Affected Phones.
How will I be affected?
All buildings will be open for use - only work requiring the network will be affected. If your work requires access to the network, such as voice-over-IP phones (VoIP), email, SacFiles, or external web browsing, you will need to work in an alternate location.
Are there alternative work locations avaliable?
Alternate workspaces will be provided for those affected by the upgrade and laptop computers will be available for loan during the outages. All laptops may be used wirelessly in unaffected spaces such as the library, AIRC, or the Union. The computer labs in AIRC 3013 and 3008 will also be available as alternate work space locations. The AIRC computer lab stations will be equipped with phones.
Laptop Loan Computers can be checked out with your OneCard at the IRT Service Desk, AIRC 2005 and used in any open building with access to the wireless internet.
If you have any questions or need special assistance with the alternative workspaces, please contact the IRT Service Desk at 916.278.7337 or email email@example.com.
What are the benefits to Sac State?
