ASP Hosting

Due to the increasing demand for ASP and .NET web applications by various campus offices, IRT has created an environment where campus staff can develop their own ASP and .NET web applications. (Faculty members should contact their college's ITC .) In order to assist campus developers, IRT has developed a guidelines document that includes suggestions, code examples, and a list of online developer resources.

Two different web servers are available to support web applications. One server is for development and testing, but not for public access. The second server is a production server where scripts ready for public access can be accessed. Back-end databases for both the development and production server currently require development by IRT in the Microsoft SQL Server environment. However, in some cases, Microsoft Access may be used for a back-end database

In addition to ASP support, these application servers can also provide encryption between the server and the user's browser. Encryption is necessary to prevent an unauthorized person from intercepting sensitive data (e.g., a user's personal information). Encryption is provided by the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and can be identified by a web address (URL) that starts with HTTPS (the 's' means secure). If you are interested in conducting web application development for your office or organization, please complete the ASP Hosting Request Form.

Please contact aspsupport@csus.edu for more information.
