Request for Firewall Exceptions

Information Resources & Technology has implemented a firewall at the border of the campus network to help protect against attacks originating from the Internet. The firewall, along with the server security guidelines and desktop management tools, helps ensure that campus machines remain reliable and secure in the increasingly hostile environment of the Internet.

A firewall provides network security by preventing unexpected traffic from entering the network (most importantly, attacks from outside). In order to function properly, all servers providing network services must be registered with the campus firewall. Failure to register a service will result in end-users being unable to access the server from the Internet.

To register services for servers you manage, complete and submit the request form below. If this is a new server on campus please also complete and submit Server Registration.
