Web Development Guidelines
All web applications must be reviewed by IRT Web Services and the Information Security Office (ISO) before becoming public. Web Services also should be consulted for all web application development. Applications will be reviews with the following criteria in mind;
a. Security
b. Accessibility
c. Best practices
d. Value to the University
It is strongly recommended that developers use a web framework for their application. Applications should be managable by anybody, not just the person who developed them. Frameworks can help ensure long-term maintainability. To contact Web Services regarding your web application project, email webmaster@csus.edu.
Web Services can provide support and environments for the following languages.
- C#/VBScript (ASP.NET MVC 1.0, .NET 2.0-3.5)
- Python 2.5 (Django 1.0)
- Php 5 (CakePhp, CodeIgniter)
Database support is supported by the IRT Data Services unit. Data Services has the capacity to support Oracle and SQL Server.
Unsupported technologies
Web Services does not support the following:
- Perl
- ColdFusion
- PostgreSQL
