Smart Planner Tool Improving 4-Year Enrollment Rates

Comstock's Magazine recently covered Sac State's new Smart Planner tool, and the University's culture shift toward blending new tech with hands-on guidance to support student success and improve graduation rates. IRT's Vice President and Chief Information Officer Christine Miller offers insights into how this new approach - coupled with tools like Smart Planner - supports greater transparency and empowers students to take charge of their academic futures.

Miller says so far about 17,000 students have begun using the tool kit, including the financial aid meter and Smart Planner. Students made aware of the platform have been fast to adopt it. “Students definitely get this,” Miller says. “They are always on their tablets and smartphones. They immediately know how to use this.”
