The Institute for Social Research is a multidisciplinary institute that is committed to advancing the understanding of the social world through applied research. The Institute offers research expertise and related technical assistance needed to develop solutions to problems facing society. It serves as a resource for agencies, organizations, the University and the broader community. The Institute for Social Research provides a supportive environment where students can learn about applied research and faculty can obtain assistance for their research endeavors.

The ISR also offers:

  • full time staff enhanced by faculty in the social sciences, health and human services, engineering and education with specialized expertise
  • available expertise in other specialty areas
  • projects tailored to specific needs
  • experience in a variety of disciplines and range of scopes
  • undergraduate and graduate research apprenticeships, providing pre-professional training in research skills, for pay and/or credit, to the university's students.
