This photo was taken at the Salton Sea, at the site which was once part of the North Shore Yacht Club. This single picture captures a triad of aspects within California, including the mountains and the sea, all within a desert landscape. At one point the Salton Sea was a major vacationing spot for many celebrities, such as Sonny Bono, who later became an important activist for cleaning up the sea. From the Salton Sea it is possible to travel from the desert to the mountains and to the ocean, all in the same day. This photo illustrates the diversity that California holds. Through my eyes, this photograph represents California because it portrays elements that attracts people to our grand state. While classic images of the Golden Gate and Yosemite may often stereotype the image of California, in reality, only many images can do justice.
