Sacramento State is proud to join the March of Dimes as a working partner in the March for Babies fundraising campaign and walk. President Alexander Gonzalez is the chair of this year's local event.
The March of Dimes helps expectant families have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies, and provides information and comfort to families when there are difficulties. It also supports research, screenings and advocacy programs.
The March for Babies is one of the March of Dimes' most important fundraising efforts, and our University is excited to join the many other community partners to raise funds and awareness. Participants create teams of "walkers" who get commitments from generous donors for taking part in the event.
To join a Sac State team, go to www.marchforbabies.org, click on "Join a Team." In the search box, type "Sacramento State," then click on your team under "Walk Team." Create your personal profile, set your fundraising goals and hit "Submit."
This year's event will be held Saturday, April 26, at the State Capitol. Registration is at 7:30 a.m.; the "marching" starts at 9 a.m.
Sacramento State is here to serve the region, and what better way to serve than to help every child get a healthy start to life.
"The March for Babies partnership helps us showcase the very best of Sacramento State. Our University is known for community engagement, excellent academic programs, and students, faculty and staff who care about the people of our region. I invite everyone to get involved and help us make the March for Babies a success for Sacramento."
