Its not the same ole' SAME Conference!The Sacramento Area Mathematics Educators annual Mini-Conference will be working to assist teachers in sharing ideas about how to move towards CCSS, in teaching for BOTH Conceptual Understanding and for Procedural Fluency.
New Type of Sessions: Interactive Sessions focused on a particular lesson idea where the facilitator launches the discussion presenting an idea about how to teach that lesson, and then facilitates a whole group discussion where participants share their thoughts (and possibly materials) for how to teach that lesson.
New Focus for Poster Sessions: Games that assist students in either deepening conceptual understanding or in procedural fluency. Prepare directions to and materials to leave at the session table like a station in the classroom, so that participating teachers can arrive at the table, read the directions and test out the game.
