2016 SASP Open Summer Institute: NGSS & CCSS
Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth and Space Sciences

Separate strands for grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
June 21 June 24 (8:30 am 3:30 pm)

  • Deepen your understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards, including the disciplinary core ideas, science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and the performance expectations.

  • Learn how the Common Core State Standards can be effectively used to compliment the Next Generation Science Standards.

  • Use productive dialogue, purposeful reading, and meaningful writing to support student learning of science.

  • Experience exemplary science lessons aligned with NGSS & CCSS for ideas and inspiration.

  • Collaborate with peers to develop instructional tools and design lessons.

SASP Open Summer Institute Information
  • The SASP Summer Institute will be held June 21-24, 2016 from 8:30am - 3:30pm at Sacramento State.
  • Cost is $580 per individual teacher OR
    $500 per teachers for teams of 2+ from a school site.
    Registrations received after May 31, 2016 will incur a $25 late fee
    *PAYMENT OPTIONS: purchase order or check
  • 2.4 Continuing Education Units are available for an additional $150.
  • Register early, as space is limited!

Hotel Accomodations

We have reserved a block of discounted hotel rooms at the Larkspur Landing Hotel, located 2 miles from the Sacramento State Campus. Please visit the the Larkspur Landing website to reserve a room. To get our group rate click on Expand Search in the Make Reservation box and enter Group Code 003306. Or you may call the hotel directly at (916) 646-1212 to reserve a room and let them know you are with the SASP Open group.
Reservations must be made by May 31, 2016 in order to qualify for the discounted rate.

Credit Options

Information about CEUs:

The CEU is a nationally recognized unit of measurement of non-credit, postsecondary-level study. It has been established by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET). CEUs are designed for use where employers, re-licensure agencies and other authorities require a specified number of hours of study on a regular basis for career advancement purposes. Grading for CEU courses is on a credit/no-credit basis.

If you want credit:

  • 2.4 CEUs are available for attending the SASP Summer Institute. Cost $150.
    Payment for credit for these units is due by the first day of the institute.
  •       *Cost includes $65 CCE fees..

  • CEU credit based on attendance, partial credit is not available.
  • Birth date is required for CEUs when signing-up.

For Non-Credit participation:

  • Professional growth hours are available, check with your district for form and conditions.
