Faculty in Residence

The Faculty-in-Residence Program is designed to provide an informal context for students to meet and interact with Sac State faculty members who are dedicated to fostering diversity and social justice on campus and in the surrounding community.
The Faculty-in-Residence serves as a mentor to students in the MCC by enhancing multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity, by encouraging and facilitating dialogue on issues related to diversity and difference, and by fostering community-building among students, staff, and faculty. The faculty contributes to the welcoming environment of the center.
The Faculty-in-Residence serves as a model to students in the MCC by demonstrating that multi-cultural awareness and social justice work can take many different approaches and forms. Some faculty may endorse an impassioned activist approach, some may encourage a more intellectual and analytical approach, and some may espouse a combination of several approaches. By interacting with and learning from individual professors, students will learn that social justice issues can be engendered and advocated through a multiplicity of methods.
