A recent study states that “out-of-school” science programs support student learning and, for Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) 1st -6th grade students, a day at the farm will make a “unique” classroom.

Sacramento State/UC Davis MESA 2009 Student Competitions: Two days before President Barrack Obama announced his commitment to move American students “to the top of the pack in science and math over the next decade” and a national campaign to encourage professionals in the fields to work with young students, the Sacramento State/UC Davis MESA Center held the final of three major competitions that showcased talented K-12 grade students working collaboratively with local private and public professionals from science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) career fields.
