Collaborative Governance Specialization

In close collaboration with Sacramento State’s Center for Collaborative Policy, the Department of Public Policy and Administration has developed a graduate specialization in the emerging field of collaborative governance. The department offers two regular courses in this area:
PPA 270: Introduction to Collaborative Policy Making
and
PPA 271: Practice of Collaborative Policy Making
.

The Department offers a third experimental course in the area during the summer months: PPA 272, Advance Practice in Collaborative Policy (formerly PPA 296L) . This is a highly participatory course for professionals who require advanced skills in collaborative methods. Topics include conflict analysis and assessment, analysis of advocacy speech, public participation, working with the media, and interagency networks. Active learning is emphasized, with practice in a wide variety of collaborative skills.
Follow this link for enrollment information for PPA 272.

In 2006 the Department started offering a new graduate level Certificate in Collaborative Governance.
Students and alumni who successfully complete all three of the above courses (i.e., PPA 270 , PPA 271 , and PPA 272 ) will be eligible for the Certificate.

See specific eligibility requirements for the Collaborative Governance Certificate.
