Cristy Jensen (PPA Professor) has completed the first phase of work on welfare reform implementation at the California state and county level. She chaired a panel discussion on Social Service Implementation at the 6th Annual University LINKS Conference in Boston last week in which she discussed her research on welfare reform implementation as part of the State Capacity Project of the Rockefeller Institute. The LINKS Conference, initiated at CSUS in 1992, brings together public universities in state capitals and state level policy makers to talk about joint opportunities for teaching/learning, research and service. She will leave Sacramento on May 19 to deliver a series of lectures and workshops on intergovernmental policy in the US and particularly welfare reform at the Far Eastern State Technical University in Vladivostok, Russia. These activities are part of our ongoing work to assist the Russian faculty in developing curriculum in PPA.

Ted Lascher (PPA Professor) had a paper accepted for the Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association in Boston this September. The paper is on public opinion about ballot initiatives.
