DIRECTOR'S CORNER   cornucopia

Welcome to November issue of The Communicator!

In this month's Communicator, we have five job announcements on our Career Opportunities page, including an announcement from the California Budget Project for two positions. We have several "Call For..." announcements on our Announcements page. There is a call for papers, a call for proposals, and a call for nominations. I encourage you to click over and find out whose calling. In addition to the "call for..." announcements, there is also the usual information about the CSUS Writing Center and the Writer's Block support group. As the semester winds down, some of you may be in need of these services.

We are just three short weeks away from Thanksgiving. After that, the rest of the semester will go VERY quickly. Here are a few dates I would like you to keep in mind as we count down to Winter Commencement. See pages 2 and 3 of the printed 2000-2001 Class Schedule for a more detailed calendar.

November 15 - Invitations to Register for Spring 2001 mailed
November 16 - Begin CASPER fee payment
November 23-24 - Thanksgiving recess (campus closed)
November 29-December 20 - CASPER for Spring 2001 semester
December 8 - Last day of instruction
December 9-15 - Finals Week
December 15 - Deadline to file thesis or project for Fall 2000 graduation
December 15- College of SSIS Winter Commencement (3:30 PM at Arco Arena)

I can't stress enough how important it is for you to pay your fees and sign up for your classes on time, through CASPER. Waiting until late registration contributes to class cancellations and book shortages. Also, no one is guaranteed a seat in any of our classes during late registration (not even PPA students). Please save yourselves (and us) headaches by signing up on time.

Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
