CHAIR'S
CORNER
Thanks for making our recent social event at my house so successful! We had a nice mix of alumni, current students, faculty, staff, and friends. The kids played soccer and watched "Spy Kids," the adults seemed to have good conversations, and we did indeed avoid causal modeling. We'll definitely do something like this again. The one bit of "business" we conducted was to encourage alumni to join our new chapter if they haven't done so already. And (hint, hint) it's still not too late for that (see this page). Speaking of alumni, please extend a hearty congratulations to Jim Mayer for being acknowledged at the recent CSUS alumni honors luncheon. Jim is currently Executive Director of the Little Hoover Commission. Students at the thesis stage: we're still on track to offer a group project in spring 2002, although things have gotten just a bit more complicated because of actions related to the state's shaky budget situation. Earlier I sent a note asking who might be interested in such a project; if you didn't respond but are indeed interested, please contact me (tedl@csus.edu) as soon as is convenient. In listening to NPR this morning the Sacramento Kings were mentioned as one of the "powerful teams in the West." That's a good note to begin these short November days. Best wishes. Ted Lascher We welcome your contributions to the Communicator! Contact the Director, Ted Lascher, or the Department Secretary, Suzi Byrd, (916) 278-6557, in the PPA Department Office. |
