Consultant, Urban Education and Outreach
w Leads/coordinates projects on urban school
districts/collegial board member groups representing various ethnicities.
w Writes/edits communications, conducts
policy research, coordinates staff projects, builds relationships with
board groups, and proposes short and long-range planning. Represents the
association at meetings/events.
w Ability to establish priorities and meet
both short and long-term projects goals. Excellent oral and written communication
skills.
Ability to present controversial or complex topics to school boards, public
groups, and/or boards of directors.
w Working knowledge of urban California
public school district issues and structure, K-12 educational issues.
w Contact with groups that represent the
diversity of California student population.
w Demonstrated background in policy research
and development.
w Ability to coordinate activities involving
various educational stakeholders: small schools districts, urban school
districts, and board member groups representing various ethnicities.
w Ability to effectively facilitate meetings.
w BA/BS degree in Education, Government,
Political Science or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
At least three years' experience in education, legislative or other public
agency settings, conducting research and evaluating complex issues in
education or the social sciences required.
$34,000.00 to $48,000.00 base pay (depending on experience) plus benefits.

California Coalition for Compassionate Care
Position: Director
Responsibilities:
* Carry out the day-to-day operations of grant-funded collaborative to
improve end-of-life care in California.
* Work with executive committee, steering committee, workgroup chairs,
and others to keep multiple projects on track and ensure that Coalition
initiatives are successful.
* Educate public policy makers and leaders in aging and health issues
on importance of quality end-of-life care.
* Report to funders on status of initiatives and track finances.
* Seek funding to continue and expand Coalition activities.
Qualifications:
* BA/BS degree in health, nursing, public policy, law or related field.
* At least three years' experience with significant responsibility for
managing projects or issues.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with wide range of
people for common purpose.
* Good organizational skills and strong analytical ability.
* Detail orientation and commitment to excellence.
* Grant writing experience or knowledge of legislative process a plus.
* Basic computer proficiency.
Salary: Salary depending on experience and abilities. Benefit package
is competitive.
Part-time status may be considered depending on skill level. Length of
employment may be limited by continuation of grant funding.
Description of the Coalition: The California Coalition for Compassionate
Care (Coalition) is a collaboration of over 35 organizations committed
to improving end-of-life care in California. The Coalition has five initiatives-public
engagement, nursing facilities, professional education, public policy,
and hospitals. The Coalition is housed at the California Healthcare Association
in Sacramento.
