Intern with Senator Vasconcellos' Office
Legislative Intern

ASSIST STAFF WITH THE FOLLOWING:

  • Research of legislation and media organizations.
  • Respond to constituent inquiries and problems.
  • Assist policy staff in the preparation of meetings, publications,
    releases, speeches, and other public information materials.
  • Answer phone call and assist with other clerical duties.
  • Do other related work as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Looking for someone interested in the legislative process with the ability
to communicate clearly, concisely and in a professional manner; ability to
access, input and retrieve information from a computer; and working knowledge of word and excel.

Working hours are flexible.

Housing California Internship Opening
Intern position: Legislative Assistant
Supervised by: Housing California Director of Policy/Legislative Advocate

Housing California is a statewide alliance of twelve regional and state
housing and homeless coalitions representing more than 1,000 California
non-profit organizations. One fundamental principle guides the work of our
alliance: Every Californian deserves decent, safe, and affordable housing.
Our mission is to advocate for policies and funding that increase and
maintain affordable housing for very low income and homeless people. Our
strategy is to support local, regional, and statewide affordable housing and
homelessness efforts with expert research, education, advocacy, technical
assistance, coordination, and planning and to create opportunities for
statewide legislative changes that benefit all Californians.

Description:
Great opportunity for political science major or law student to learn about
the legislative process and bill analysis from the perspective of a
statewide nonprofit advocacy organization working to influence state policy.

We will work with you to obtain course credit for the internship.

Responsibilities:
Tracking affordable housing legislation.
Writing letters of support/opposition on bills.
Updating website information on legislation.
Communicating with grassroots members of organization about different bills.
Producing educational materials on policy positions.
