Director of Health Promotion and Education
L.A. Care Health Plan is seeking an experienced health education professional to provide leadership and innovation in meeting the health education needs of our Medi-Cal and Healthy Families membership.
Requirements: Master's degree in Public Health, Community Health Educationor related field (Certified Health Education Specialist a plus); 5 years management experience in a Health Education environment; minimum 5 years health plan experience preferably working with Medi-Cal and/or underserved, culturally diverse populations; demonstrated ability in program planning,implementation and evaluation; working knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance issues; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent presentation skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with plan partners, community organizations and other external entities; and the ability to develop and execute successful business plans. Bilingual a plus.

Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project
Seeks Conference Event Coordinator
(Contract Position)
The Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project (APYLP) is a nonprofit organization that sponsors an annual conference bringing 50 high school students from across California to the State Capitol. This four-day conference provides the students with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and their understanding of the diversity and needs of their communities. Skills building and leadership development workshops are held and facilitated by Asian Pacific community leaders.

APYLP is seeking a person to work on contract to assist the Executive Board
and its working committees as Conference Event Coordinator for the 2004
Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Conference. The Conference Event Coordinator will provide support for the selection process, program development, conference logistics, and the annual fundraising dinner.

EXPERIENCE IN:

  • Conference and event planning, including layout and logistics
  • Hotel, transportation, and facility management, including on-site coordination and supervision
  • Travel arrangements for both air and ground transportation
  • Guest registration
  • Data tracking

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Leadership skills, including strong communication and management skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and resourcefulness
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in PC applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Knowledge of issues relating to the Asian Pacific Islander community
  • Based in or near Sacramento, and access to own office or work space
  • Ability to work cooperatively as well as make independent decisions
  • Ability to attend meetings (often in the evenings)
  • Available to start work immediately

CONTRACT: The contract amount ranges from $5,000 to $8,000, depending on experience and contract terms. The contract begins immediately upon execution and continues through June 30, 2004.
