Center for Substance Abuse Prevention
CSAP is currently accepting applications for two U.S.-Mexico Border Region coordinator positions. They also have an opening for a coordinator who will be working with the Western Region Grants to Reduce Alcohol Abuse (GRAA) who are funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

California Budget Project
Senior Policy Analyst/Policy Analyst*
The California Budget Project (CBP) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that conducts research and analysis on a range of state tax and budget issues, with a particular focus on issues affecting low- and middle-income Californians. The CBP seeks to hire a Senior Policy Analyst or Policy Analyst with experience and interest in education finance, tax policy, and/or related policy issues.

The Policy Analyst's responsibilities include researching and writing reports; analyzing state tax and budget policies; representing the CBP before state and local constituency groups and policymakers; monitoring the impact of federal budget and tax policies on California; and analyzing social and economic data to identify the impact of state and federal policies on low- and middle-income California. Qualifications for the position include:

- A graduate degree in public policy, economics, urban planning, or a related field.

- Experience in policy analysis or research, including a familiarity with state and federal budget and policy issues and data sources. The position of Senior Policy Analyst requires five years of directly related program or policy experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly to lay audiences both in writing and through public speaking.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency with PC-based statistical software, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Willingness to work as a part of a team.
  • Commitment to the goals of the California Budget Project.

Technical Assistance Specialist IV
POSITION OPENING(S) – 2 half-time or 1 full-time

The Center for Civic Partnerships, based in Sacramento, has two half-time openings or one full-time opening to work with communities and nonprofit organizations, statewide. Provide training and individualized technical assistance (on-site and distance) on planning, implementation, evaluation and sustainability. Participate in the planning of, and assist with, a statewide conference. Work independently to research, develop and disseminate resources and tools. Assist with various aspects of a membership program; recruitment and selection of program participants; and development of reports and publications. Perform other duties as assigned. The openings are with the following programs: Organizational Development Services (Dept. 32A) and California Healthy Cities and Communities (Dept. 32B).

Requirements: Master’s degree in community/organizational development, public health education, nonprofit management, planning/administration or related field. Five years of experience preferred providing technical assistance or organizational development support to community based-programs and/or experience in nonprofit management. Knowledge and skills in adult learning techniques, community health promotion, sustainability, collaboration, community building and/or public policy. Exceptional communication skills; expertise with electronic communications, including the World Wide Web. Positions also require extensive travel in California, use of own car, valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance. Starting salary $1,899 per month half-time DOE plus a comprehensive benefits package. Qualified applicants seeking full-time employment may apply for both openings, which would be combined for a starting salary of $3,798 per month full-time DOE plus a comprehensive benefits package. World Institute on Disability
California Work Incentives Initiative
Project Description for both openings:
The California Work Incentives Initiative, CWII, is a community based collaboration focused on reducing poverty and barriers to employment by engaging the disability community to improve person-centered health care and employment services. Current work includes Disability Benefits 101, a website on public and private health care and benefits for California workers and job seekers, the statewide California Work Group on Work Incentives and Healthcare (CWG), and Youth Initiative. The project conducts statewide outreach, training and presentations on Disability Benefits 101, health, work and disability.
CWII receives support from county, state, federal and foundation grants to produce and manage these activities.

Benefits Calculator Team Leader (MS Word)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Benefits Calculator Team Leader serves as primary contact, content expert and project coordinator for the development, testing and maintenance of a web based benefits calculator focused on state and federal health and benefit rules, and will represent the project in multiple ways. The Team Leader is responsible for designing the flow of the Calculator's logic; for specifying the benefits programs to be modeled and the interactions between them; and for leading the team that produces the benefits calculator features for Disability Benefits 101. The successful candidate will develop, coordinate and work closely with the CWII project manager and the project's Advisory Group to be set up in early 2004.

Contracts Coordinator (MS Word)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Contracts Coordinator is responsible for contracts development, oversight and related budget development and maintenance activities; project compliance to internal standards of operation and external funding and budget requirements. The Contracts Coordinator works collaboratively and confidentially with the CWII Project & Policy Development Manager to meet and report on current contract requirements; provides expert support to the Project Manager for planning sound, additional and coordinated funding sources along with the required budgeting products and reports.
