Rob Wassmer, Public Policy and Administration, has written a new report with the Community Services Planning Council which features a series of GIS maps graphically depicting local challenges such as pockets of poverty, low-performing schools and imbalances in government services. Here's a summary of the report.
Additionally, Rob Wassmer and a co-author from the Levy Economics Institute in New York, have produced a commissioned report on "K-12 Education in the U.S. Economy: Its Impact on Economic Development, Earnings, and Housing Values" for the National Education Association. The NEA will use this report to try and convince state legislatures that it makes economic sense to preserve the quality provision of K-12 education even during times of state budget crises. Wassmer presented this paper at the NEA State Leaders Meeting in Denver on April 6.
