Technical Assistance Specialist IV
The Center for Civic Partnerships, based in Sacramento, seeks an individual full-time (minimum 65% FTE will be considered) to provide training and technical assistance (on-site and distance), statewide, on planning, implementation, evaluation and sustainability of local initiatives in California Healthy Cities and Communities. Additional responsibilities include: participate in the planning and coordination of a statewide conference; assist with development of reports and publications; assist with various aspects of membership program; conduct research on on-going program development and implementation; perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in public health, public administration, community development, urban/regional planning, , or related field (Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience can also qualify); minimum 3 years of experience providing technical assistance to community-based programs, expertise with electronic communications, including e-mail and the World Wide Web. Exceptional written and oral communication skills; knowledge and skills in community health promotion, collaboration, community building and public policy. Position also requires travel in California, use of own car, valid drivers license and auto liability insurance. Starting full-time salary $3,874/mo + DOE plus a comprehensive benefits package. Grants and Contracts Specialist I
Nonprofit public health organization seeks a full-time Grants and Contract Specialist I for the Cancer Prevention and Nutrition Section. Responsibilities under direction of the Program Manager include: providing administration, financial contract support, consultation, technical assistance, and oversight of second tier subcontracts with special emphasis on nutrition education and promotion of physical activity among low- income households with children. The Specialist will evaluate and reconcile the contract budgets including compliance to fiscal requirements, maintain program and budgetary information pertaining to contracts and grants interagency agreements, prepare fiscal reports and prepare budget proposals/revisions. This position is based in Sacramento, California.
REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree preferred in business or public administration, business accounting or related field, and at least three years experience in fiscal, grant and contract management, proposal preparation, budgeting and financial analysis and contract negotiation. Proficiency in MS Office package is preferable. Experience with nonprofit, state or local government experience desirable. Development Specialist II
Nonprofit public health organization is seeking a full-time Development Specialist II for the Cancer Prevention & Nutrition Section (CPNS) of the California Department of Health Services. Within the Policy and Planning Unit and as a member of the Partnership Development Team, the Development Specialist is responsible creating opportunities to promote CPNS goals and objectives in the public, nonprofit and private sectors by maximizing the involvement and contributions of CPNS partners; California Nutrition Network, California 5 a Day Campaign. The Development Specialist will develop and implement activities to increase exposure of CPNS and assist in developing funding opportunities. The Development Specialist is responsible for staffing the Policy Action Teams by facilitating conference calls and meetings, maintaining lists of priorities with corresponding action plans, and tracking progress of the Teams. Development Specialist will also assist with resource development activities while providing technical assistance and support for nutrition, physical activity, and food security projects at state, regional, and local levels. This position handles complex tasks with the application of strong writing, oral communication, and collaboration skills. It is based in Sacramento, California.
REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government, or related field and three years experience working with or in government, nonprofit, and/or advocacy organizations. Extensive knowledge of Windows 2000, Microsoft Office Suite is required. The salary range is $3,874 to $4,262 per month depending upon experience with an excellent benefit package.
