FACULTY

Nancy Shulock was invited to testify before the California Performance Review Commission on September 9 on the higher education recommendations of the CPR. She is serving as the faculty advisor this year for the Executive Fellowship program. The Institute for Higher Education, which she directs, has just released a new report that compares California’s performance in higher education to other high-growth states and includes recommendations to policymakers for better addressing the state’s higher education needs. The report can be found on the Institute’s website: www.csus.edu/ihe .

David Booher led a panel of interdisciplinary and international scholars at the national conference of the Association for Conflict Resolution at the end of September. The panel, "Collaborative Policy and Democracy: Building Capable Institutions of Governance for Network Society," focused on how collaborative policy making is changing the capacity of government institutions to get better policy outcomes. The panel is part of a series of panels at various conferences being sponsored by the Center for Collaborative Policy on behalf of the Collaborative Democracy Network. The CDN is a network of over 45 interdisciplinary and international scholars working on improving research and education in collaborative policy making.

Ted Lascher's article "Lessons from the Collective Action Game" was accepted by the academic journal "PS: Political Science and Politics." It
draws on his experiences using the game in PPA 210.
