California Postsecondsary Education Commission
Graduate Student Assistant*
Here are announcements for two graduate student assistant positions at the California Postsecondary Education Commission. One focuses on research on the nexus between postsecondary education and workforce development; the other will assist in administering the Improving Teacher Quality State Grants Program for teacher professional development. There is no official deadline, but those interested are encouraged to submit applications and resumes as soon as possible--they hope to fill these positions by the end of April. Panetta Institute
Congressional Internship
Each year, the Panetta Institute invites CSU presidents to nominate one student from each campus to participate in the fall semester Congressional Internship. Attached is more information regarding the Panetta Institute Congressional Internship*. This is a great opportunity for our students, and I hope you will encourage qualified students who could best benefit from this experience to apply.
The application process for students is as follows:
- Letter of interest, addressed to President Gonzalez, Panetta Congressional Internship, c/o the Center for California Studies, CSUS, 95819-6081. The letter should include the student’s a) academic background and preparation; b) interest, background and aspirations in public service and politics; and c) ways in which he or she will represent the Sacramento campus.
- A current resume.
- Transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
- Two references, including one CSUS professor.
The deadline for application is April 17, 2006.

Fulbright Scholarship
The Fulbright application period is soon going to open for students. I have scheduled four workshops for students on how to apply for a Fulbright Scholarship. Please let your students know that they can call our office and sign up for a Fulbright workshop. Students with good gpa’s and who will graduate by May of 2007 and those who are graduate or second bachelor’s students can apply for a 2007-2008 Fulbright by the October 1, 2006 deadline.
