Analyst Position - We urgently need someone with knowledge of [higher ed/CTE/teacher
issues] who has strong analytical and writing skills. (Knowing how to read
legislation and do bill analyses would be the best of all possible worlds
but, realistically, I know we'll have to give someone a "crash course.")
At this time of year, the bulk of the work consists of preparing fairly detailed analyses of every bill assigned to an education policy committee. Analyses are updated prior to every subsequent committee hearing. In the late fall, the workload shifts to working with the Secretary and DOF in identifying and fleshing out the details of the Governor's policy initiatives for the following fiscal year. Finally, from time to time we are called upon by the GO to do "fire drills."
