DIRECTOR'S CORNER

Spring Break is just around the corner! Congratulations, you've made it over the hump for the Spring semester - even if you have a lot of hard work on term papers and projects waiting for you as the semester grinds to a halt.

Remember that there are two more weeks until spring break (but who's counting?). During the week of April 17-21, the campus will be open on a very limited basis. Please call before making the trip over here.

The Russian scholars from Vladivostok have gone home just in time to participate in their presidential election. The visit, made possible by a grant from USIA, was a roaring success. Dr. Cristy Jensen deserves a round of applause for her tireless effort and flawless coordination on the project. Both our Russian visitors and our programs and campus are immeasurably enriched by the presence of such international exchanges.

Students graduating this semester are reminded to please sign up for commencement by May 15 (they will be at ARCO ARENA on Friday, May 26, 2000 at 5:00 p.m.). See the announcements page of the newsletter for more details about signing up, purchasing your gown and hood, etc. This is always a very moving and exciting event. Plan to attend!!

Here is a little unsolicited advice for you...
Get your saclink account now if you haven't already done so. You may not know yet, but the CSUS website has many convenient features you can access with your saclink account. For example, CasperWeb can give you secured information about your academic/enrollment/financial aid standing at the university. If you don't care about that, you may care about the site liscenced software available to student, faculty, and staff (downloadable with your saclink user id and password); this includes SPSS, WinZIP, FTP, and others as well as access to the CSUS library Lexis/Nexis journal and newspaper search data base.

Please enjoy the rest of this month's newsletter. The student jobs/internships page has several great opportunities the public and private sectors. The scholarships, grants, fellowships page has information about Fullbright Fellowship and other summer programs. The career opportunities page has announcements from Los Angeles and a local private consulting firm.

That's it! Enjoy the break but spend some time preparing for those end of the semester term papers and exams.
