DIRECTOR'S CORNER
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Even though it's still early, you might want
to begin thinking about our lineup of Fall 2000 and Spring 2001 courses.
PPA has four electives planned for next year.
In the Fall, PPA's planned electives include:
- Al Gutowsky, CSUS Economics Department, will be teaching PPA 251,
Urban Problems, Economics & Public Policy; and
- Peter Detwiler, Consultant, Senate Local Government Committee, will
be teaching PPA 250, Land Use and Planning course.
In the Spring, PPA is planning to offer:
- PPA 296H Health Policy & Administration with former Wilson cabinet-level
Director of Health, Kim Belshe, and
- PPA 284 Urban Politics and Policy by yours truly.
Core courses in PPA and IA will be offered in the usual sequence. Please
stop by, call, or e-mail your advisor for some academic advising now,
before the rush. Fall registration will be here before you know it!
I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Russian Scholars from Far
Eastern State Technical University, Vladivostok, Russia. Dr. Cristy Jensen
arranged for the scholars' visit, with the help of a USIA grant. Our Russian
friends are working on a Distance Education/Business Management Curriculum
and Teaching Project here at CSUS. They will be here for the next few
weeks.
Important dates to mark on your calendar are:

area that we will be having a brown bag lunch recruitment meeting at the
Senate Office of Research, on March 9th, 2000, from 12 noon to 1:000 p.m.
SOR is located at 1020 N Street, Suite 565, Sacramento, CA 95814.
May 2nd. We are planning a gala 10th Anniversary of the CSUS PPA
program on Tuesday May 2, 2000, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Details on
