ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Adrian Ownby (MPPA 2000) just started a new job in July as the staff for the Sacramento County Child Protective Systems Oversight Committee -- its part of the Children's Coalition.

Chris Pahule (PPA student) started his new job as a redevelopment planner for the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency in July. Chris had been working as a planner for the City of Pittsburg and is looking forward to a much shorter commute to SHRA. Chris successfully completed Peter Detwiler's PPA 250, California Land Use Policy, class.

Guy Fuson (PPA student) is now a member of the Planning Commission for the Town of Loomis. Guy will be tackling the growth problems along the I-80 corridor. Guy also completed Peter's class.

WRITING PROBLEMS PLAGUING YOU?
Research and Graduate Studies and the Graduate Center are again sponsoring expanded hours at the Writing Center (Calaveras Hall 128, 278-6356) for tutoring time for graduate students. This service will be available for the whole academic year. Students can call the Writing Center and make an appointment for assistance with their writing. The Center is open expanded evening hours to accommodate graduate students.

Writer's block: A Support Group for Thesis Students
Facilitated by Francine Toder, Ph.D. Psychologist and Author
--Learn to recognize your beliefs and attitudes about writing that interfere with the process.
--Identify your personal or interpersonal struggles.
--Try out new skills and strategies.

Those interested in contemporary public policy issues should check the list of working papers available at the Masters Program in Public Policy and Administration Web Site (www.csus.edu/mppa/content.htm).
