David Covin, Government and IA Professor, got a grant from the Ford Foundation for a conference and a workshop in Brazil in May and another one here, on this campus, next year (probably June) that will involve U.S. and Brazilian scholars in collaborative studies of race and politics in the U.S. and Brazil, $177,000.
Peter Detwiler's (PPA lecturer) article, 'The Challenges of "Growth Within Bounds"' will appear in the May 2000 issue of the California Environmental Law Reporter. "Growth Within Bounds" is the final report of the Commission on Governance for the 21st Century, the advisory panel created by Assembly Speaker Hertzberg to review the state's boundary laws.
