Choral Program

The Sacramento State Choirs, under the direction of Dr. Donald Kendrick, are ramping up for a new season of concerts celebrating Dr. Donald Kendrick’s 25th Silver Anniversary as Director of Choral Activities at Sacramento State. Members of the Sac State Choral Music Program joined Professor Kendrick in May traveling to Montreal and Ottawa where they performed in four different Basilicas as well as in Parliament and as guests on the Dominion-Chalmers United Church concert series.

Throughout his work at Sac State Professor Kendrick has helped his students to raise funds to travel to Carnegie Hall, Canada, Europe and Asia as cultural ambassadors for the campus and community.

The Chamber Choir, Concert Choir and University Chorus will present a “Handel and Haydn” concert celebration on Saturday, November 14th at 8 PM in Sacred Heart Church (39th and J Street) in Sacramento. This choral orchestral program salutes the 200th Anniversary of Franz Joseph Haydn’s death and the Bicentennial of George Frideric Handel’s death. The evening will feature the “Mariazeller Messe” of Haydn along with Handel’s “Utrecht Jubilate” and his Coronation Anthem No. 2 “The King Shall Rejoice”.

The choirs' 25th Annual “Procession of Carols" concert will be presented on Saturday, December 5th at 8:00pm and Sunday, December 6th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm in Sacramento’s Sacred Heart Church (39th and J Streets). This Sacramento tradition sells out each year, usually by Thanksgiving. The performance features innovative and traditional carols from around the world along with candlelit processions and an audience sing-along guaranteed to brighten and add meaning to your holidays. All Alumni from the Sac State Choral Program are invited to attend these December concerts where they will be honored at the performances. Please email Dr. Kendrick for more information.

The donation suggested at the door for all concerts is $10 General or $5 Students/Seniors.  Advance ticket sales are strongly suggested and available at the Sacramento State Ticket Office (916) 278-4323.
