Choral Program


The Sacramento State Choirs, under the direction of Dr. Donald Kendrick, will open their spring concert on Saturday, March 8 at 8:00pm in Sacred Heart Church on the corner of J Street and 39th Street in a program called “Music Of The Spheres”.

The evening will feature the University Chorus performing works by Canadian composers Stephen Hatfield and R. Murray Schafer. They will also sing the area premiere of  Finnish composer Veljo Tormis’ “Incantatio maris aestuosi”.  Additional works by Edwin Fissinger and J.S.Bach will be included. The Men’s Chamber Choir will sing works from Russia and Poland as well as the setting of “Laudes de Saint Antoine de Padoue” by Francis Poulenc. The Concert Choir will present Goorczycki’s “In Virtute Tua” with Chamber Orchestra along with choral works by Brahms, Whitacre and Castillo.  

The closing concert of the spring will be the annual “CHORALFEST” on Saturday, May 17th at 8:00pm also in Sacred Heart Church. This program will include guest performances by some of the area’s top high school choral programs including choirs from Oakridge High School and Christian Brother’s High School. 

The donation suggested at the door is $10 General or $5 Students/Seniors.  Advance ticket sales are strongly suggested and available at the Sacramento State Ticket Office (916) 278-4323.
