The 2012 New Millennium Series will feature performances by the Los Angeles Piano Quartet, the Hot Club of San Francisco, and a duo concert by Grammy Award winning clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and guitarist Eliot Fisk. Incuded in the Series again this year is also the popular Faculty and Friends Gala, in which some of our best faculty and local talent are showcased.

 Guest bassist Rick Shaw, from Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, joins the Sacramento State jazz ensembles in concert to open to the spring semester. Additional performance this spring include two concerts by our student jazz combos as well as other performances by our big bands and our award winning Jazz Singers.

The spring Piano Series will include performances by Russian born pianists Evgeni Mikhailov performing works by Scriabin, Rachmaninov and Mussorgsky and Natasha Paremiski (pictured) performing works by Prokofiev and Brahms, as well as free masterclasses by our own piano faculty at the annual Piano Festival and Valencia Young Pianist Competition April 14-16.

The spring World Music Series begins on Tuesday, February 7 with a performance of Korean music by Jin Hi Kim (pictured). The series continues in April with Turkish music by the Aksak Duo and African/jazz fusion music by The Kora Band.

In addition to our regular concert series programs, a number of special guest artists will be featured in solo recitals throughout the semester. Flautist John Bailey (pictured) performs on Friday, February 3, cellist Sarah Fiene on Wednesday, February 8, and cellist Paul Cohen on Thursday, March 15.
