Aaron Garner received a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies at Sonoma State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University. Aaron's former teachers include Joe Gilman, Mark Levine, Mel Graves, Bill Yeager, and Rick Helzer.

Throughout his career he has performed with such jazz notables as James Moody, Eddie Harris, John Handy, Oscar Brown Jr., The Woody Herman Orchestra, Mike Clark, John Tchicai, Colin Bailey, Bill Watrous, Don Shelton, and many others. Aaron has also given clinics at jazz festivals and music camps throughout the Northern California region. In addition to a busy performing schedule, Garner maintains an active private teaching studio in Sacramento.

As an educator, Garner has taught a variety of courses, such as jazz piano, jazz theory, introduction to MIDI, and jazz history at American River College and Sacramento City College, and teaches jazz piano and jazz combos for the Jazz Studies program at Sacramento State.
