Valerio Morucci’s primary area of research focus on Renaissance and early Baroque music, particularly on patronage, source study, and music theory. His secondary interests concern medieval music from the ninth to the fourteenth century. He has published articles for Musica Disciplina (2010), Journal of Musicology (2012), Acta Musicologica (2013), Grove Music Online (forthcoming 2014), and reviews for Mediaevistik: International Journal of Interdisciplinary Medieval Research.  His paper “Secular Patronage at the Orsini Court: Music, Poetry and the Rhetoric of Early Monody” was the recipient of the Ingolf Dahl Memorial Prize and Award from the Northern California and Pacific Southwest chapters of the American Musicological Society.
