Elisha Wilson

Elisha Wilson is a versatile musician with an eclectic background of 31 years in the field of music and dance. Elisha is currently serving as Music Faculty for Horn Instruction at Sacramento State, Stanislaus State, Band Director at Fresno City College, and is Music Faculty at Cazadero Music Camp during the summer. She is the Music Director and Conductor of the Visalia Opera Company, Principal Horn in the Sequoia Symphony, and has freelanced with the Fresno Grand Opera, Townsend Opera, Fresno Philharmonic and San Francisco Wind Ensemble, and teaches privately in Fresno, Modesto and Sacramento. Her formal studies include a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts with an emphasis in Horn Performance from California State University, Fresno.

Elisha has served as a horn soloist in many professional settings. Between 2002 and 2004, she performed as a horn soloist in the Tony Award-winning Broadway show, “Blast!”. In April 2012, Elisha was chosen to become a member of a performing group called The Edge, and was able to compete in the nationally televised talent show called America’s Got Talent in New York. In June 2015, Elisha was invited to perform the Strauss Horn Concerto No. 1 in Sydney, Australia on a 10-day performance tour with the Yosemite Wind Ensemble, and performs many solos throughout the west coast with both orchestras and wind ensembles. Additionally, she has had the privilege of playing in accompanying orchestras for world-renown artists such as Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, Renee Fleming, Andrea Bocelli, Jackie Evancho, Johnny Mathis, Branford Marsalis, Juan Diego Florez, Sarah Chang, Airborne Toxic Event, and Mannheim Steamroller.

In other recent performing experiences, Ms. Wilson has conducted Bizet’s Carmen, Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro as well as co-stage directed an original Mariachi Opera with the Visalia Opera Company, and Les Miserables with the Leauge of Christian Actors in Visalia, CA.

Elisha is a performing artist that is deeply committed to music education through her membership to the International Horn Society, California Music Educators Association, California Band Directors Association, and Fresno-Madera Music Educators Association. She has been invited as a clinician, guest speaker and presenter giving lectures on horn pedagogy and peak performance practices across the state of California.

Elisha Wilson feels fortunate to have studied with world-class hornists such as Brian Drake, Nancy Goodearl, Dr. Tom Hiebert, and David Krehbiel.
