The Liberace Wind Quintet has been a fixture at Sacramento State for more than 20 years. Sponsored by the Liberace Foundation, the group is composed of scholarship students, “Liberace Scholars”, from the Department of Music. The Liberace Foundation was created by entertainer Liberace in 1976, and sponsors such groups throughout the United States. To date, the foundation has awarded more than $4.5 million in scholarships to more than 100 universities, schools and organizations.

The Liberace Wind Quintet is coached by Sacramento State Horn Professor Pete Nowlen. The 2008-2009 ensemble consists of Taylor McKinnie, flute; Robert Broadfoot, oboe; Loraly Ocampo, clarinet; Dan Webster, bassoon; and Steven Bingen, horn.
