CSUS dean presents original compositions

Marion O’Leary,
dean of California State University, Sacramento’s College of Natural Sciences
and Mathematics, will present five of his original musical works as “Music
for Winds and Voices: Compositions 1996-2003” at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan.
18, in Capistrano Hall 151 at the University.
The program, eight years in the making, includes “Memoriam – 2001”
for narrator and piano, “Five Taoist Meditations” for baritone and
piano and “Music for a Festive Occasion” for brass quintet.
Performing with O’Leary are baritone James Jeffries, CSUS faculty members
Deborah Pittman and William J. Sullivan Jr., dean of the CSUS College of Arts
and Letters, and CSUS alumni group the Curvd Aire Brass Quintet.
The free concert is sponsored by the Sacramento Saturday Club, the city’s
oldest musical organization, founded in 1893.
