Nursing program students seek
community service projects
Health agencies and service groups are once again encouraged
to submit community service project proposals to the nursing program at California
State University, Sacramento.
Senior nursing students, who are required to complete the service to earn their
degrees, will carry out projects accepted by the division. Over the course of
a year, groups of nursing students develop, implement and evaluate as many as
two dozen projects.
Past projects have included a survey of pregnant homeless women, booklets on
breastfeeding and sex education, developing an exercise program for the elderly,
and a child safety awareness fair. Any idea that would provide students with
practical experience in planning and implementing a health-related project in
the community may be considered.
Project ideas should be submitted by Feb. 1. Detailed information is available
by contacting Nancy Beers at (916) 278-6714 or by email at beersnj@csus.edu.
Media assistance is available by contacting the University’s public affairs
office at (916) 278-6156.
