Sacramento State announces the availability of new scholarships for the 2007-08 academic year

Three new endowed scholarships are now available to Sacramento State students for the 2007-08 academic year. Awarded through the CSU Office of the Chancellor, these funds are among those accessible to students who will be attending the system’s 23 campuses throughout California.

Students may obtain application information beginning March 15 at the University’s scholarship office (916) 278-6179 or online at www.csus.edu/faid. The deadline for completed applications is April 20.

The 2007-08 scholarships are:

The DALE M. SCHOETTLER SCHOLARSHIP FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS – A total of 46 $5,500 scholarships are available for visually impaired students, as verified by physicians at CSU campuses.
The WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST/CSU TRUSTEES’ AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT – One scholarship of $6,000 and 22 $3,000 scholarships are available for students who have overcome adversity, demonstrated financial need, and have many attributes of merit including superior academic performance, exemplary community service and significant personal achievements. Campus presidents nominate one scholarship recipient per campus.
The GLENN AND DOROTHY DUMKE FELLOWSHIP – One $1,000 fellowship is available for a graduate student in public policy, American history, economics, archival management or government who conducts a research project on California in the CSU library/archival collections.

“We are pleased to be able to offer these scholarships to our students,” said Craig Yamamoto, Sacramento State’s director of financial aid. “They are particularly prestigious awards given that students will be competing among the entire CSU system.”

In most cases, systemwide scholarships require that students maintain full-time status during the academic year in which the award is received. Eligibility is re-verified each semester/quarter during the scholarship award period.

Applicants who have not previously received a systemwide scholarship will be given priority over equally qualified applicants. Those under consideration for more than one scholarship during the same year will be considered first for the scholarship of greater value.
