Greek entertainment, food to fill evening
California State University, Sacramento is set to host a
free evening of Greek music, poetry and dance at 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29
in the University Union Ballroom.
Presented by the University's Hellenic studies program, the night will feature
more than 125 performers, making it among the largest gatherings of Hellenic
talent in the region to date. Included will be members of the Sacramento Greek
Orthodox Church of the Annunciation choir and folk dance group; the combined
San Francisco Bay Area Festival Chorus and Orchestra; and the San Jose Opera.
A reception featuring authentically prepared Greek pastries along with Greek
and American coffee will follow the show.
Greek musical greats Tikey Zes, Constantine Gundunas and William Bobolis will
conduct the performances.
The free evening of entertainment and food is made possible by a grant from
the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Foundation. Donations to the Hellenic Studies Scholarship
Fund will also be accepted during the event.
